Industry-Sponsored Programs

Industry-Sponsored Programs are academic programs established at Tokyo Tech financed by the Donation for Education and Research from corporations and organizations. They are independently managed to enhance and enrich our research and education for a specific period of time.

Duration

2-5 years in principle. Renewal is possible.

Name of the Program

Each Industry-Sponsored Program will have a name describing the program contents, the name and/or intentions of the donor.

Organization of the Program

Each Industry-Sponsored Program will have two or more faculty members appointed including;
(1) one specially appointed professor or specially appointed associate professor (or equivalent)
(2) one specially appointed associate professor or specially appointed assistant professor (or equivalent)

Financing

All the costs and expenses for operating the Industry-Sponsored Programs will be covered by the Donation for Education and Research. The estimated annual budget is 30 million yen.

Procedures for establishing Industry-Sponsored Programs

  1. 1. Donation Application
    Please send the Donation Application Form for Industry-Sponsored Program signed to the faculty member or department where the Program shall be established.
  2. Procedure at Tokyo Tech
    The establishment of the Program will be examined and decided by the university through the Faculty Council and the Educational and Research Council or equivalent authority.
  3. Payment by the donor
    Please make a payment through bank transfer to Tokyo Tech's bank account stated on the Payment Request by the due date. A receipt will be sent to the donor afterwards.

Tax Incentives

The following tax incentives will be given to the donors:

  1. For corporations, the entire amount can be included in deductible expenses (Article 37.3, item ii of the Corporate Tax Act).
  2. For individuals, a donation deduction can be made from taxable income* (Article 78.2, item ii of the Income Tax Act).

*Donations over 2,000 yen and up to a maximum of 40% of your income can be deducted from your taxable income.

Information Disclosure

Upon request for information disclosure under the Information Disclosure System, information provided by the donors on the Donation Application Form may be disclosed excluding personal information.
