*3 Research fees:
From April 2021, the research fee for 1 collaborative researcher from a private organization, etc., or a commissioned researcher is 65,000 yen per month plus 10% consumption tax, multiplied by the number of months of the researcher's stay period. The time and period for receiving these two types of researchers can be arbitrarily determined with the consent of the faculty member receiving the researcher.

Subsequent handling of intellectual property is provided in the agreement, or discussed when required. As part of the advice given in regard to challenges within the corporation, measurement with equipment belonging to faculty members (self-created equipment, etc., that doesn't exist elsewhere) done by them is included. This does not include acceptance of simple measurement requests and loaning of equipment.

Lectures by faculty members held for corporate researchers can also be made part of the academic guidance system.
Time spent by faculty members includes the time spent to prepare materials, make phone calls, and write e-mails, etc., required for provision of advice.
Time units are determined by discussions between Science Tokyo and the corporation.

Direct expenses received for Collaborative research are used to employ specially appointed faculty members.

Collaborative Research
In regard to specific research subjects, Science Tokyo faculty members and corporate researchers work together on research and obtain research findings. The corporation bears the expenses required for the research. Corporate researchers are also able to utilize Science Tokyo's laboratories to conduct their research.
Also, tax incentives enable corporations, etc., to deduct from corporation tax a fixed percent of their research expenses for collaborative research with universities.

Flow of Agreement
1. Look for faculty members to conduct the collaborative research.
"Are there any faculty members who will participate in conducting this research? "We would like to know the research disciplines of Science Tokyo faculty members." "What systems are compatible?" etc.,

2. After the supervising faculty member has been determined, the corporate supervisor and the faculty member meet for interviews and discussion to determine the following matters.
- Research subject/objective/content
- Research period (or guidance period) *The beginning and ending dates can be freely set. There is no restriction as to the fiscal year.
- Existence of collaborative researchers from private organizations, etc. *Will corporate researchers conduct the research at Science Tokyo?
- Research expenses
3.The corporation sends an application formthat states the content above to Science Tokyo.
4. Science Tokyo presents an agreement (proposed by Science Tokyo) to the corporation, and both parties discuss the content of the agreement.
A template of an agreement between 3 parties or more and a template of the English version of the agreement are also available. Contact Science Tokyo if you wish to obtain either of these templates.
The important points of the agreement are the articles regarding confidentiality and the articles regarding handling of intellectual property.
